Tungsten carbide is one of the most versatile and effective seal face materials, recommended for hydrocarbon process applications that are destructive to ceramic materials. With good thermal shock resistance, tungsten carbide also transmits heat efficiently, minimizing media vaporization at the seal faces. It is a hard, strong metallic material that withstands abrasive service. Tungsten carbide seal faces are available with either nickel or cobalt bonding.
